With the creation of this piece, I began to notice that people are drawn to my work based on its setting, particularly if it represents where they are from or currently live. New Englanders find a special connection to Vermont, while those from the Northwest are captivated by depictions of Portland. This trend became apparent even before I started titling my pieces.

I believe it’s not necessarily the architectural style that attracts the attention, but rather the color that surrounds the structures. While building types may transcend location, the unique colors of the sky and landscape are distinctive. For example, during my time in Seattle, I was mesmerized by the teal dusks and gray waters. Upon moving to San Luis Obispo, I rediscovered my affection for pink and gold hues. We are all comforted by what feels familiar, and it is this familiarity—embodied in color—that resonates deeply with viewers.
