In designing mid-rise buildings, I often encounter resistance from communities that prefer more complex architectural forms. However, I believe that simplicity in design can be both elegant and effective. The Anderson Hotel, built in 1923 and recently renovated for low-income housing, exemplifies how streamlined, timeless architecture can serve diverse purposes while preserving aesthetic and functional value. Simple forms contribute to durability, efficiency, and lasting beauty, which are crucial for successful, adaptable design.
